Thank you for your interest in our mentoring programs. At this time, we are limiting the number of youth we are accepting for new intakes because of the capacity our waitlists are currently at. We do not feel it would be fair to add more names to an ever-growing list of youth waiting for an indefinite amount of time to be matched. A number of factors influence our ability to match  – number of volunteers enrolling, programming capacity in response to opportunities as requested by youth, and the changing landscape of volunteerism in general following the pandemic.

We have undertaken a strategic planning process over the last couple of years to support us in determining how we can best serve the youth in our community with mentors. As we implement our new strategic plan, we hope to increase our capacity for new youth. Our goal remains to be able to match youth enrolled as soon as possible.

CRITERIA

HOW IT WORKS

When applying for our programs, a mentee must be between the ages of 5 and 15 years. The mentoring relationship can be supported by the agency through to 18 years of age when they are matched before the age of 15 years.

Our Program Coordinator will work with you and your youth to go over how a mentor would be a benefit to you, your youth, and your family and how we can help support some of those goals and growth. Things that are considered as part of the enrollment process include:

  • Availability of parent, guardian, or a support person
  • Peer relationships
  • School performance
  • Involvement in community activity
  • Living environment
  • Ability to form and maintain a healthy and safe relationship
  • Ability to perform self-care
  • Desire to have a mentor in their life
